Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- The jacket has a sleek, close-fitting race cut with no excess fabric, so you will not feel any flapping at high speeds.
- The 150 g Polartec® AirCore™ fabric is lighter than the 219 g version used in the Perfetto 4 and, therefore ideal if your focus is more on performance than insulation.
- The PFAS-free membrane offers protection against wind and light rain without a harmful coating.
- The extended back panel (splash tail) with a reflective stripe protects your lower back from road spray and increases your visibility in the dark.
- The Chameleon tape on the shoulders provides targeted protection from the rain without adding bulk.
- As the jacket is not insulated, it doesn’t retain much heat and you will need an extra layer in temperatures below 6°C.

The Polartec® AirCore™ membrane is electrospun and semi-breathable, offering protection against wind and light rain, while working in harmony with your efforts: The harder you pedal, the more actively the membrane wicks away heat and moisture.
This jacket is uninsulated and designed for temperatures between 6°C and 14°C. If you often ride in lower temperatures or at a more leisurely pace, the warmer Perfetto 4 version is a more sensible choice.
As for the back pockets, these are "floating", which means they are attached separately from the rest of the jacket, a design feature Castelli already used in the Gabba R. It ensures the pockets stay well in place throughout every ride, and the jacket doesn’t lose its shape when you put something in a pocket while cycling.
150 g Polartec® AirCore™ membrane
This exclusive, lighter version of the AirCore™ membrane is designed for cyclists who ride at high speeds and with sustained intensity. The membrane is electrospun and semi-breathable, blocking wind and light rain while also allowing warm, moist air to escape. The harder you pedal, the more actively the membrane works.
Floating back pockets with drainage holes
The three back pockets are constructed separately from the body of the jacket, a design taken from the Gabba R and further developed. It keeps the pockets stable at race pace. Metal drainage holes let any water that gets in drain away immediately.
Chameleon tape on the shoulders
A transparent tape on the shoulder seams provides targeted protection against rain where you get wettest, without adding bulk to the sleek racing fit.
The Perfetto Pro men's cycling jacket is designed for high-intensity rides in cool, changeable conditions at temperatures between 6°C and 14°C.
Suitable for:- Fast training rides and races, where you are constantly riding at high intensity;
- Changeable weather with a chance of wind and light rain;
- Combination with a thin base layer underneath to benefit most from the membrane’s moisture-regulating properties.
- Leisurely, low-intensity rides - without insulation and without the membrane being actively triggered by exertion, you will cool down more quickly. For such rides, choose the warmer Perfetto 4 winter jacket;
- Persistent, heavy rainfall - the jacket has a water-repellent membrane but is not a waterproof rain jacket;
- Temperatures below 6°C without an extra layer.
The Perfetto Pro is designed for temperatures between 6°C and 14°C as well as wind and light rainfall. The jacket is uninsulated, so at lower temperatures or when cycling at a more leisurely pace, it is best to wear an extra layer underneath.
What is the difference between the Castelli Perfetto Pro and the Perfetto 4 winter cycling jackets?
The Perfetto Pro has a sleeker, race-fit cut and is made of a light version of the Polartec® AirCore™ fabric (150 g), designed for high intensity and speed. The Perfetto 4 model has a tailored fit and is made of 219 g fabric that provides more warmth at a gentler pace or in colder temperatures.
Is the Castelli Perfetto Pro cycling jacket insulated?
No, the Perfetto Pro is uninsulated and designed for high-intensity rides in cool – not cold – conditions. The warmth comes mainly from your own exertion; if you’re riding at a more relaxed pace, we recommend adding another layer or wearing an insulated jacket.
Can I ride in the rain wearing the Castelli Perfetto Pro winter jacket?
The Polartec® AirCore™ membrane offers light water-repellency and good protection against rainshowers, partly thanks to the Chameleon taping on the shoulders and the splash tail (extended back panel). For prolonged, heavy rainfall, a waterproof rain jacket is a better choice.
